Huge and Exciting News! In response to the Covid-19 situation, Lake States Environmental has worked hard to develop and received permission to offer a special PILOT version of our normal refresher courses to participants attending remotely from their home or office. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with concerns of contracting or spreading the Covid-19 infection to attend class without coming into contact with anyone! These classes are currently being scheduled to serve certified people in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and will also work for those from anywhere else where training from Minnesota or Wisconsin can be used to satisfy their certification renewal requirements.
The MDH and WI DHS have both granted us permission to do these remotely attended PILOT versions of our Refresher courses with students attending remotely from their home or office using a computer with a camera and a microphone. These classes have been a great success for our student’s safety and saving travel time and expense.
Just to be clear, this is not a computer based on-line set of slides or pages to read through or watch, but rather our live course just as you would experience it in the classroom. In these special Pilot classes, the students attend and participate through their computer with a camera and microphone.
We continue to offer in-person training as well, for which we continue to monitor the updates and guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Wisconsin and Minnesota Departments of Health as part of our efforts to manage and minimize risk for our class participants and instructors. We have implemented strong measures and practices to mitigate the risk of exposure to the Covid-19 virus in our in-person training.
With the orders that the states had extended in April and May there were certain allowances from the state agencies regarding the expiration and renewal requirements of people's certifications. In Wisconsin all asbestos and lead certifications have been extended to June 30, 2020. In Minnesota a waiver has been issued by the department to allow certified individuals to renew their certification prior to attending a refresher to maintain their ability to perform regulated work as long as they receive their refresher within 30 days of the expiration of Governor Waltz's Declaration of Peacetime Emergency. Many have already taken their refresher, and we have both in-person and Remote PILOT refreshers scheduled to allow everyone to obtain their training before the deadlines.
Lake States is remaining vigilant in being a partner in the communities we are in, promoting compliance with the requests of the local, state and federal governments. We are also doing all we can to establish and provide the opportunities for all to receive the refresher training you will need to maintain your credentials to offer your service and contribution to friends, neighbors, clients and communities you serve. We will continue to earn your trust and patronage by doing all that we possibly can to make this trying time as simple to deal with as possible as it relates to maintaining your asbestos and lead credentials.
